Peter Gutkin actively pursues his fine art/design career; he is skilled in stone and wood carving, metalsmithing, bronze and plaster casting, and high and low fire ceramics. His efforts and contributions are being recognized by both the art world and academia. His work has been exhibited at: The Whitney Museum of Modern Art, Laforet Museum (Tokyo), San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia to name a few.

Academia has also taken notice of his talents. He has taught at: the University of California (Berkeley), the San Francisco Art Institute, and the California College of Art in Oakland. Gutkin continues to mentor apprentices in his atelier, where students receive credit toward their degrees. Gutkin was a student himself at Temple University and the San Francisco Art Institute where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Art and Master of Fine Art degrees.

For over 20 years, he has been working on residential and commercial projects. Not only is he an interior space designer, he designs and produces site specific furniture. The public and private realms are collecting his works for both enjoyment and future investment. His pieces are said to be "modern antiques for the future".
