Eric Chiarelli, who grew up on a farm in Ohio with limited design resources, became a master of improvisation and the “green” process of adaptive reuse of existing materials at a very early age. Born into a family of classic car and motorcycle enthusiasts, Eric learned to appreciate the beauty in the mechanical nature of their vital components. Both of these concepts are imbedded in his current design practice. Eric, the principal of newly formed Red Brick Studio in Atlanta, graduated at the top of his class from the Art Institute of Atlanta where he earned a BFA in Interior Design. After graduation Eric spent 10 years as a designer for Hirsh Bender Associates in Atlanta contributing to award winning, high profile projects like the Atlantis Paradise Island, the Park Hyatt Zurich, the Grand Hyatt Macau, and the Jing ‘an Shangri-La to name a few.
His time with HBA prompted Eric and his wife to move to Shanghai, China where they lived, traveled and explored for 1 ½ years. In March of 2011, while still in China, Eric took a leap of faith and founded Red Brick Studio, a multi-disciplinary design firm specializing in products for the Interiors Market, including furniture, lighting, stone mosaics, and decorative hardware. Eric, who is LEED AP certified, believes that materials should speak for themselves, and his new designs for manufacturers like Vaughan Benz, Medici Mosaics and Boyd Lighting reflect that aesthetic.
