A proponent of simplicity, David’s influential lighting design aesthetic reflects his distinct minimalist style while incorporating bold elements. His passion for producing authentic and engaging designs extends beyond lighting, as David is also a licensed general contractor in California, specializing in high-end residential construction.
David received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of San Francisco. His early career focused on project management, where he began working with design industry leaders on large-scale custom lighting projects. David discovered his innate design talent working on the creative side of the business, during which his ideas were well-received. He has held senior positions with prominent lighting design firms before launching his company, David Alexander Studio.
In 2018, David Alexander Studio merged with Boyd Lighting. David now spends much of his time collaborating with renowned architects and designers on complex, high-profile residential construction projects in San Francisco.
