Sherry Williamson

Sherry Williamson is a classically trained architect specializing in residential interiors, custom furniture and lighting. After working with distinguished firms on both coasts, she established her namesake design studio in Mill Valley, California.

She received a Master of Architecture from Yale and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and French from Washington University, and studied Beaux-Arts design and printmaking in Strasbourg, France.  She worked with Venturi Scott Brown and EHDD and collaborated with Brayton Hughes Design Studios. Projects spanned hospitality, institutional and commercial interiors as well as landscape design.
Williamson’s lighting designs won Interior Design (ID) Magazine’s 2002 national competition, and “On The Rocks” won ID 2010 “Best of Year”.  Her fixtures have appeared in numerous publications and on the sets of Will and Grace.  Sherry Williamson Design Inc. made the 2016 Luxe Gold List, and her Linework rug collection was an ID 2018 “Best of Year” finalist. Two residential projects achieved LEED Platinum status in 2015/16 and a 2017 CH+D Residential Efficiency award.

Architectural proportions, curated materials and simplicity are the essences of every project, with custom lighting, furniture, and rug designs adding a level of refinement and continuity to her body of work. Williamson’s interiors deliver a relaxed and elegant style, unique to each client, balancing minimalist, tailored lines with natural elements.  Her passion for nature is also expressed in plein-air watercolors, pendant sculptures, ceramics, and her exuberant garden.
