Tom Nahabedian is a Designer with an Architecture pedigree. He trained at the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign [Bachelor of Arts in Economics] and the Illinois Institute of Technology [Master of Architecture]. Following years employed with architecture firms in Chicago and Los Angeles, Nahabedian started his own practice, NC Collaboration, in early 2000 in L.A. With a growing family and business, he relocated back to his hometown of Chicago in 2004.
In the spring of 2012, Tom partnered with James Gorski to form Bureau|AD, the Bureau of Architecture and Design, a boutique interdisciplinary architecture and design firm. The firm’s work is punctuated by a rigorous attention to all things designed through detail, contextuality, materiality, sustainability and innovation. While still young, the firm has completed many noteworthy projects, including the acclaimed Brindille restaurant for which they were awarded the 2015 James Beard Foundation Award for Outstanding Restaurant Design; and Little You, a speech therapy facility that was awarded a 2014 AIA Chicago Small Projects Citation of Merit Award.
Life as a husband and father of two occupy the majority of Tom’s time away from the drawing board.
